POLarization and Directionality of the Earth's Reflectances The French space agency, CNES, has developed the POLDER instrument, which flew on ADEOS (ADvanced Earth Observation Satellite), developed by the Japanese space agency, JAXA. This was the first French/Japanese cooperative project in the area of Earth observation. A second, identical instrument flew on ADEOS-2, successor to ADEOS, until October 2003.

Veusz is a GUI scientific plotting and graphing package. It is designed to produce publication-ready Postscript or PDF output. SVG, EMF and bitmap formats export are also supported. The program runs under Unix/Linux, Windows or Mac OS X, and binaries are provided. Data can be read from text, CSV or FITS files, and data can be manipulated or examined from within the application.
GLAS (the Geoscience Laser Altimeter System) is the first laser-ranging (lidar) instrument for continuous global observations of Earth, which will make unique atmospheric observations as an important component of the ESE climate change program. GLAS is a facility instrument designed to measure ice-sheet topography and associated temporal changes, cloud and atmospheric properties.and give us information on the height and thickness of radiatively important cloud layers which is needed for accurate short term climate and weather prediction. In addition, operation of GLAS over land and water will provide along-track topography.
