The Mapping Lab develops technologies for the future of digital education. We design and create scalable methods and tools for data modeling, data visualization and digital analytics. These tools are key to unlocking the value of educational data, to creating personalized pathways and adaptive learning systems, and to achieving data-driven decisions.

ABC Learning Design is a high-energy, hands-on curriculum development workshop developed at UCL. In just 90 minutes teaching teams work together to create a visual ‘storyboard’. The storyboard is made up of pre-printed cards representing the type and sequence of learning activities (both online and offline) required to meet the module or programme learning outcomes.
Today’s civil servants are addressing problems of
unprecedented complexity in societies that are more pluralistic
and demanding than ever. At the same time, the systems
and tools of governance are increasingly digital, open and
networked. Civil servants need the right skills to keep pace.
This presents a double challenge: the first is to identify which
skills will be needed for a civil service which is fit-for-purpose
today and into the future; the second is to figure out how
civil services can invest in these skills – through attraction,
recruitment and development – to improve policies and
services.
What is the Senior Executive Leadership Capability Framework?
This Framework seeks to establish a shared understanding of the critical success factors for performance in APS leadership roles.
The Framework identifies the five core criteria for high performance by senior executives. Each of the criteria heads a group of inter-related capabilities. The Framework does not describe the functions or responsibilities of particular senior executive roles.
We currently have a pool of good agency leaders who deliver in the context of their agencies. What we are now working towards is a group of leaders who can both lead their agencies well and work together to have an impact across the entire State Sector system. This is not an easy shift but one that, with focused effort and the right incentives in place, will deliver the types of leadership required to enable us to deliver better collectively.
This Leadership Success Profile (LSP) has been designed to have an inclusive view around leadership. It is for the many, not the few. This is a different model of leadership than we have exercised before.
The CDIO™ INITIATIVE is an innovative educational framework for producing the next generation of engineers. The framework provides students with an education stressing engineering fundamentals set in the context of Conceiving — Designing — Implementing — Operating (CDIO) real-world systems and products. Throughout the world, CDIO Initiative collaborators have adopted CDIO as the framework of their curricular planning and outcome-based assessment. CDIO collaborators recognize that an engineering education is acquired over a long period and in a variety of institutions, and that educators in all parts of this spectrum can learn from practice elsewhere. The CDIO network therefore welcomes members in a diverse range of institutions ranging from research-led internationally acclaimed universities to local colleges dedicated to providing students with their initial grounding in engineering.
The guide is designed to inform and influence key agency stakeholders as well as to encourage ongoing improvement by those with direct responsibility for learning and development.

The Transparency in Learning and Teaching project aims to improve higher education teaching and learning experiences for faculty and students through two main activities:
