Mit der Klage der VG Media und einer Kartellbeschwerde gegen Google geht die Diskussion um das Leistungsschutzrecht für Presseverlage in die nächste Runde. Dass neue und alte Medien auch juristisch aufeinander prallen, ist dagegen nichts Neues. So forderten Telegrafenagenturen bereits in den Zwanzigerjahren einen Schutz vor „Nachrichtendiebstahl“ durch das Radio.
Am 1. August tritt das neue Leistungsschutzrecht in Kraft. Große Verlage, darunter die Axel Springer AG, Burda und Gruner + Jahr, haben Google News gestattet, weiterhin Anrisstexte zu übernehmen und zu veröffentlichen.
Trotz neuer verfassungs- und europarechtlicher Bedenken wollen die Regierungsfraktionen den Gesetzentwurf zur Stärkung von Presseverlegern im Netz doch noch diese Woche beschließen. Eine zweite Anhörung widmete sich technischen Fragen.
