Portugal muss ein ambitioniertes Reform- und Sparprogramm umsetzen, das die Troika einfordert. Betroffen ist auch die staatliche Wasservorsorge. Doch viele Portugiesen befürchten, dass durch die Privatisierung die Preise für Trinkwasser übermäßig ansteigen könnten.

Die Privatisierung der Trinkwasserversorgung hat durch die Eurokrise wieder Fahrt aufgenommen. Griechenland und Portugal wurden bereits von der Troika genötigt, Teile ihrer öffentliche Trinkwasserversorgung zu privatisieren. Doch dies könnte nur der Beginn einer neuen großen Privatisierungswelle sein, die auch vor Deutschland nicht halt macht. (Von Jens Berger)
