Abstract

Drooling is a considerable disability in the neurologically disabled, but it will respond to treatment. For more than 10 years, a team approach has been successfully used in more than 400 such patients to assess and recommend appropriate therapy and its outcome. Bilateral submandibular duct relocation with simultaneous removal of the sublingual glands has evolved as the surgical procedure of choice and is associated with a satisfactory outcome in the majority of these cases.
