Abstract
This paper deals with an experimental assessment of
the performance of different damping systems in controlling
wind-induced conductor motions. The damping systems comprised
different types of Stockbridge dampers or breteUes used
on single ACSR and AAAC conductors as well as spacer·
dampers or semi-rigid spacers combined or not with bretelles
used on similar triple or quad bundled conductors. All tests
were conducted under natural wind conditions at the HydroQuebec
test line in Varennes, Quebec.
