Am 1. April wurden in zahlreichen Städten Unterschriften für die Volksinitiative „NRW gegen CETA & TTIP“ gesammelt. Auch Mehr Demokratie hatte als Teil des Bündnisses aus 45 Organisationen und lokalen Gruppen für dieses Datum zu einem landesweiten Aktionstag aufgerufen.
Die Volksinitiative "SH stoppt CETA" hat die erste Hürde genommen: Die notwendigen 20.000 Unterschriften sind gesammelt. Damit wird sich der neue Landtag absehbar mit der Volksinitiative beschäftigen müssen.
Am Mittwoch wir das EU-Parlament über CETA abstimmen. Akivisten haben 3,5 Millionen Unterschriften gegen das Abkommen in Straßbourg überreicht.
Vor der CETA-Abstimmung im Europaparlament haben Aktivisten symbolisch 3,5 Millionen Unterschriften gegen das Freihandelsabkommen mit Kanada an zwei Abgeordnete übergeben. „Das ist viel, das ist die Hälfte von meinem Heimatland“, sagte die österreichische Grünen-Abgeordnete Ulrike Lunacek gestern in Straßburg.
Von den Medien kaum beachtet haben über 562.000 Menschen bei einem Volksbegehren gegen die Freihandelsabkommen TTIP, TISA und CETA in Österreich unterschrieben. Das sind fast neun Prozent der Stimmberechtigten.
Über eine halbe Million Menschen haben sich von 23. bis 30. Jänner in ganz Österreich auf den Weg gemacht und das Volksbegehren unterschrieben. Nämlich das "TTIP - CETA -TISA". Für die Behandlung im Parlament wären nur 100.000 Unterschriften nötig gewesen. Mit 562.552 Signaturen geht sich das dann ja locker aus.
Wien (OTS) - Gegenstand der heutigen Verhandlungen im Nationalrat waren die Freihandelsabkommen mit Kanada (CETA), den Vereinigten Staaten von Amerika (TTIP) sowie das „Abkommen über den Handel mit Dienstleistungen“ (TISA). Exakt 562.552 Österreicher haben gegen die umstrittenen Handelsabkommen CETA, TTIP und TISA durch Unterfertigung des Volksbegehrens ihre Stimme erhoben. Die Initiatoren sprachen am Tag nach der Auszählung von einem "überwältigenden Ergebnis".

Bis Montag läuft das Volksbegehren gegen die geplanten Freihandelsverträge der EU mit Kanada und den USA. Ausgerechnet die Großhandelskette Spar stellt sich prominent gegen den Freihandel – das zeugt schon von einer gewissen Chuzpe.
Das derzeit laufende Volksbegehren hat ein einziges Ziel: das Freihandelsabkommen mit Kanada zu Fall zu bringen. Dabei greift der Vertrag die Bedenken der Kritiker auf und ist vorbildhaft für die Zukunft des Investitionsschutzes.

Rechtsexperte Stefan Griller tritt für eine saubere Teilung künftiger EU-Handelsverträge in einen EU- und einen nationalen Teil ein. Die vorgesehenen Schiedsgerichte für Investoren kritisiert er scharf.
Der Bayerische Verfassungsgerichtshof wird am 15. Februar über die Zulässigkeit eines Volksbegehrens gegen das umstrittene Wirtschafts- und Handelsabkommen Ceta entscheiden.
Am 23. Jänner 2017, wird der Eintragungszeitraum für die Unterstützer des Volksbegehrens „Gegen TTIP, CETA und TISA“ eröffnet, die dann acht Tage Zeit haben werden, in allen österreichischen Gemeinden und Bezirksämtern Ihre Unterschrift dazu abzugeben.
Als "unverständlich, unnötig und nichts anderes als kontraproduktiv in einer emotional ohnehin aufgeheizten Zeit" sieht der Vize-Präsident der Wirtschaftskammer Österreich (WKÖ), Jürgen Roth, die neuerliche Stimmungsmache gegen Freihandel und die Handelsabkommen CETA und TTIP von Gewerkschaftsseite.
Bis zum 30. Jänner können Gegner der Abkommen in allen Gemeinde- und Bezirksämtern Österreichs unterschreiben. TTIP sei trotz der Kritik des designierten US-Präsidenten Donald Trump noch lange nicht gestorben, so die Unterstützer am Dienstag.
Das bayerische Innenministerium hält das geplante Volksbegehren gegen das Freihandelsabkommen CETA für unzulässig - und hat das Ganze deshalb dem obersten bayerischen Gericht übergeben. Die Richter haben nun drei Monate Zeit, zu entscheiden.
Während auch die 14. TTIP- Verhandlungsrunde in Brüssel von großen Differenzen gekennzeichnet war, ist es jetzt in Österreich fix, dass Innenminister Wolfgang Sobotka noch im Herbst ein Volksbegehren zulassen muss. Eine Bürgerinitiative hat nämlich die notwendigen Unterschriften gesammelt.
"Das Handelsabkommen Ceta hat wesentliche Auswirkungen auf die kommunale Selbstverwaltung, deren Ausgestaltung in der Zuständigkeit der Bundesländer liegt. Damit werden faktisch Hoheitsrechte des Landes Bayern auf die EU übertragen und deshalb bedarf es einer rechtsverbindlichen Zustimmung des Bundesrats." Hier setzt auch das bayerische Volksbegehren gegen Ceta an.
