Der Vortrag bietet eine Übersicht über die Grundlagen der Knorpelregeneration: zelluläre und zonale Komposition des hyalinen Knorpels, zonale biochemische und biomechanische Eigenschaften, Interaktion zwischen Chondronen und Chondrozyten und Ansprüche an die Knorpelregeneration. Des Weiteren werden Erkrankungen des Knorpels und gegenwärtige Regenerationsansätze besprochen: Arthrose vs. Osteochondrosis dissecans, angewandte Standardverfahren zur Regeneration-Induktion wie ACT und Mikrofrakturierung, experimentelle Ansätze zur Regeneration des Knorpels und schließlich gegenwärtige Probleme und Lösungsansätze.
