Die Wissensspeicher der Zukunft werden Netzwerke sein. Diese Ansicht vertritt Prof. Dr. Jürgen Renn vom Max-Planck-Institut für Wissenschaftsgeschichte. Wie Netzwerke die Produktion und Verbreitung von Wissen beeinflussen, davon berichtet Prof. Renn in seinem Vortrag im Rahmen der Tagung "Die Zukunft der Wissensspeicher". Dabei liefert er nicht nur begriffliche Überlegungen, sondern gibt auch historische Beispiele für Wissensnetzwerke von der Antike bis in die Neuzeit. Hiervon ausgehend werden im Anschluss Prognosen und Forderungen für das Internet als Wissensnetzwerk der Zukunft formuliert.
Open Access gilt als das System der Hoffnung für die Veröffentlichung wissenschaftlicher Erkenntnisse. Schon jetzt zeigt sich, dass der Weg zum freien Wissen ein steiniger sein wird. Denn das Konzept entblößt seine ersten Schwächen.
A set of twelve principles that represent the cornerstones of the future scholarly communication system. They are designed to provide a coherent frame of reference for the debate on how to improve the current system. With this document, we are hoping to inspire a widespread discussion towards a shared vision for scholarly communication in the 21st century.
