Noch ist Europa nicht verloren. Der Zustand der Europäischen Union aber gibt Anlass zu tiefer Sorge. Das Gebilde der EU ist aus den Ruinen des Zweiten Weltkriegs erwachsen. Aus kühnen Visionen wurde in jahrzehntelangem Ringen politische Realität, aus Erzfeinden engste Verbündete. Die Spaltung des Kontinents in Ost und West, 60 Jahre eine offene Wunde, wurde überwunden. Nun droht dieses großartige europäische Projekt im Zeitraffertempo zu zerfallen. Und viele Bürger in Europa nehmen das mit einem Schulterzucken hin, als ginge es sie kaum etwas an. Sie täuschen sich.
Ausländische Konzerne sollen im Rahmen von TTIP besondere Klagerechte erhalten – so will es die EU. Nur jetzt ist Brüssel selbst Opfer eines solchen Verfahrens geworden.
