Since June, Everyone Health Staffordshire has established 105 clinics that people aged 50 years and over who reside in specific target areas can access.
Already, 272 people have been given advice that has made a real difference to their lives, including stopping smoking, managing weight, falls prevention, social isolation and NHS Health Checks.
Ashley Surgery near Newcastle has a long record of encouraging patients to exercise.
Practice Manager Denise Smith said: “As a practice we encourage our patients to improve their health and fitness. In 2016 we launched our Health Walk initiative which has 76 registered patients and undertakes organised walks twice per month.
“Parkrun is being actively promoted by the Royal College of General Practitioners to combat inactivity and we thought it was a natural progression. The feedback has been encouraging as we are the first GP surgery in this area to register and we would like to encourage other surgeries to do so.”

Active Families provides families with the opportunity to learn more about healthy eating, the importance of being active and the benefits of adopting a healthier lifestyle for the whole family. Active Family sessions will start on January 15 at schools in the central, south and north of the city.

The Public Health Outcomes Framework (PHOF) data update for November 2016 has been published by Public Health England (PHE).
The data are presented in an interactive tool that allows users to view them in a user-friendly format. The data tool also provides links to further supporting and relevant information to aid understanding of public health in a local population.

A website dedicated to helping people in Staffordshire live a healthier life has been launched, just in time for national No Smoking Day.
Launched today (March 9) the Healthy Staffordshire Hub from Staffordshire County Council gives children, young people, adults and families advice on stopping smoking, reducing alcohol intake, achieving a healthier weight and getting more physically active.
The new website starts by asking people what they would like help with, before tailoring the advice to fit their health needs and help them make those all important changes.
The website, www.staffordshirecares.info/healthy is being launched as part of national No Smoking Day in a bid to give those wanting to kick the habit a bit of extra help.
