Open access. Treatment of depression in cardiac patients is difficult. Patients’ illness beliefs regarding depression are associated with outcomes. The aim of the mixed-methods study was to test whether patients in routine care for depression differ from patients with depression in routine care for cardiac diseases regarding illness beliefs about depression.

Anxiety and depression are common in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and have been linked to clinical recurrence. Previous randomized controlled trials (RCT's) have found no evidence that psychological interventions enhance outcomes for people with IBD but have recruited patients without distress. This study investigates the clinical benefits of a nonrandomized uncontrolled study of clinic based cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) for people with IBD who had moderate–severe levels of anxiety or low mood and compares the results with a previous RCT of CBT in this population. . Amlodipine (AMLO) and ramipril (RAMI) belong to the most prescribed drugs in patients with hypertension, a condition also encountered in depression. Venlafaxine may worsen hypertension because of noradrenergic properties. Although of special clinical relevance, data on pharmacokinetic interactions between AMLO, RAMI, and venlafaxine (VEN) are lacking.. Untreated depression among persons with chronic general health conditions (chronic health conditions) affects mortality, functional disability, quality of life, and health care costs. The rehabilitation of depressed stroke patients is more difficult because poststroke depression is associated with disruption of daily activities, functioning, and quality of life. However, research on depression in stroke patients is limited. The aim of our study was to evaluate the interaction of demographic characteristics including gender, age, education level, the presence of a spouse, and income status on depressive symptoms in stroke patients and to identify groups that may need more attention with respect to depressive symptoms.
