Florence (or Flo) is a telehealth platform to allow patients and their doctors to manage long-term health conditions such as asthma and diabetes effectively. Flo sends text messages to patients offering reminders and advice. Messages can also ask the patient to submit their readings, such as those relating to their blood pressure. All the patient needs is a normal mobile phone.
Local patients and partners yesterday (14 February) worked with North Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) to co-develop solutions for the future of local health services. The session was independently facilitated by the Consultation Institute to make sure that it complied with the legal processes with respect to consultation.
NHS Stoke-on-Trent Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is to appoint new members to its Patient Congress and is looking for applicants. The congress is drawn from people of all ages and backgrounds who have an interest in health and NHS services and can spare some time towards influencing the way decisions are made.
Services for patients with diabetes in Stoke-on-Trent have been rated as Outstanding.The rating has been awarded following a comprehensive assessment by NHS England for the last year. Services for North Staffordshire patients were rated as Good.
From Tuesday 3 July, 2018 people across Telford and Wrekin and Shropshire who need urgent GP out-of-hours medical help or advice will need to call 111. This is because the current Shropdoc telephone number will no longer be in use from that date.
The 111 service will replace the current out-of-hours telephone service provided by Shropdoc in line with national policy to provide a consistent, integrated approach to urgent care; but any patients that need to see a clinician out-of-hours will still be seen by a local GP.

It took a while to get past the title and into the substance of this book. The use of ‘treating’ and ‘their’, in relation to spirituality, suggests an outmoded paradigm, with the clinician doing something ‘to’ the patient. There’s not a lot about mental and physical needs; the emphasis is on the spiritual.
