The Journal of Chemical & Engineering Data is a monthly journal devoted to the publication of experimental data and the evaluation and prediction of property values. It is the only American Chemical Society journal primarily concerned with articles containing experimental data on the physical, thermodynamic, and transport properties of welldefined materials including complex mixtures of known compositions and systems of environmental and biochemical interest. The scope of the Journal now includes thermophysical properties obtained from quantum chemistry, molecular simulation, and molecular mechanics calculations. Acceptable Manuscripts are: Articles, Short Articles, Correlations, and Reviews. These should cover, concisely, substantial work with thoroughness, clarity, and completeness. In addition, Comments, Book Reviews, and Additions and Corrections are published. The decision to both publish a manuscript and the type it will appear as rests solely with the Editor. The Journal of Chemical & Engineering Data ranks in the top 10 in total citations in the category of Chemical Engineering with 9,107 total citations. The journal received an ISI Impact Factor of 2.063.

COCO (CAPE-OPEN to CAPE-OPEN) is a free-of-charge CAPE-OPEN compliant steady-state simulation environment consisting of the following components: COFE - the CAPE-OPEN Flowsheet Environment is an intuitive graphical user interface to chemical flowsheeting. COFE has sequential solution algorithm using automatic tear streams. COFE displays properties of streams, deals with unit-conversion and provides plotting facilities. TEA - COCO's Thermodynamics for Engineering Applications, is based on the code of the thermodynamic library of ChemSep and includes a data bank of over 190 commonly used chemicals. The package exhibits more than 100 property calculation methods with their analytical or numerical derivatives. COUSCOUS - the CAPE-OPEN Unit-operations Simple package is shipped with COCO. It contains a splitter, a mixer, heat-exchangers, pumps and reactors amongst other unit operations. ChemSep-LITE, a limited version of ChemSep with a maximum of 10 components and 150 stages, can serve as an equilibrium distillation unit operation in COCO. A full version of the equilibrium and non-equilibrium column simulator can be obtained at http://www.chemsep.com/. ChemSep-LITE is included in the COCO installation. CORN - the CAPE-OPEN Reaction Numerics package that comes with COCO facilitates specifying any kind of kinetic or equilibrium reaction. Simple reactor units, like conversion reactors, CSTRs and plug flow reactors that can use the CORN package come with the COUSCOUS package.

Applied Thermal Engineering publishes original, high-quality research papers and ancillary features, spanning activities ranging from fundamental research to trouble-shooting in existing plant and equipment. System design covers energy use both in buildings, including passive thermal design techniques, and in the process industries. For the latter, the design problems associated with the integration of components into overall plant are also covered. The journal will feature aspects of the thermal engineering of advanced processes, including process integration, intensification and development, together with the application of thermal equipment in conventional process plant, which includes its use for heat recovery. A wide range of equipment will be relevant to Applied Thermal Engineering, such as heat exchangers (compact and advanced designs), heat pumps and refrigeration plant, heat pipes, combined heat and power and advanced cycles, heat transfer enhancement as applied to the above, and other unit operations involving thermal engineering procedures. Economics plays a necessary role in the assessment of many thermal engineering projects. Submissions devoted to or considering the financial implications of equipment designs are welcome. Information on the different economic criteria applying in particular regions of the world is also relevant here. Additional regular features include: • review articles on important or developing technologies • special issues devoted to significant international conferences or seminars • book reviews • patent surveys • policy and legislation reports Applied Thermal Engineering provides essential reference material and critical design feedback, with emphasis on thermal technologies as applied in the built environment and the process industries. All submissions will be subject to peer review from leading experts in the field.
