What constitutes good crisis care remains largely unknown, or at least unevidenced. Crisis resolution and home treatment teams (CRTs) are ubiquitous, but somewhat nebulous in terms of care provision (the varying names and often poorly differentiated specifications of crisis resolution teams, crisis resolutions and home treatment teams, and home treatment teams give a sense of the issue). In the UK, the Royal College of Psychiatrists has established the Home Treatment Accreditation Scheme—the word “crisis” is strikingly absent.
