Am 20. September 2014 formulierte der Parteikonvent der SPD als Voraussetzung für die Zustimmung zu den transatlantischen Freihandelsabkommen TTIP und CETA „Rote Linien“. Mittlerweile liegt die überarbeitete Version von CETA vor. In einem Gutachten hat die ASJ NRW gemeinsam mit dem Europaabgeordneten Professor Dr. Dietmar Köster eine erste Bilanz gezogen. Sie fällt ernüchternd aus. Dem Parteikonventsbeschluss folgend müsste die Partei CETA ablehnen.
Jahrelang wurde das Freihandelsabkommen Ceta zwischen der EU und Kanada verhandelt, der Vertragstext liegt mittlerweile vor. Doch ob er auch Realität wird, ist noch ungewiss. Die SPD hat entschieden, auf einem Parteikonvent – einem kleinen Parteitag – über das Abkommen abzustimmen. Am 19. September kommt es zum Showdown.

Als erster Landesverband hat sich die Bremer SPD eindeutig gegen das Freihandelsabkommen Ceta mit Kanada ausgesprochen. Der jetzt vorliegende Vertragstext sei nicht zustimmungsfähig, sagt SPD Chefin Sascha Aulepp. Gegen das Handelsabkommen gibt es seit Jahren heftige Proteste in ganz Europa.

Der SPD-Europaabgeordnete Dietmar Köster ruft zur Teilnahme an der Demonstration „TTIP und CETA stoppen! Für einen fairen Welthandel!“ am Samstag, 10. Oktober, in Berlin auf. Gewerkschaften und andere Gruppen organisieren die Demo. Die Verhandlungen zu den geplanten Freihandelsabkommen mit den USA (TTIP) und Kanada (CETA) gehen zurzeit in die entscheidende Phase.
Erst zum Wirtschaftsforum, dann zur Partei: Gleich zwei Termine zu TTIP an einem Tag hatte Sigmar Gabriel zu absolvieren. Schulterklopfen erntete er vor allem bei der Wirtschaft. Denn viele Genossen haben trotz Zugeständnissen weiter Vorbehalte.
Eine humorfreie SPD vertagt TTIP-Diskussion. Die Genossen sind sauer, weil sich Greenpeace auch bei anderen Streitfragen wie der Kohlepolitik stets die SPD als Ziel für publikumswirksame Aktionen aussucht, selten jedoch die Union.
Den neuen Enthüllungen zum Trotz drängt Kanzlerin Merkel auf einen schnellen Abschluss der TTIP-Verhandlungen. Das Wirtschaftsministerium stellt zudem klar, dass es sich noch nicht um Ergebnisse handele. Ob es eine Verständigung gebe, sei unklar.
Sigmar Gabriel hat im Bundestag TTIP-Kritiker zur Vernunft gerufen: Der Handelspakt werde EU-Interessen schützen, versprach der Vizekanzler. An ein rasches Ende der Verhandlungen glaubt er aber nicht.
