Oid is an open source, interactive, extensible software system for experimenting with matroids. Since matroids are a generalization of many other combinatorial objects such as graphs, matrices, and linearspaces, a software system for matroids inherently handles all these objects. Oid also has a library of classes can be assembled into programs that are optimized for special applications.

FOSDEM '09 is a free and non-commercial event organized by the community, for the community. Its goal is to provide Free and Open Source developers a place to meet.

TG-Gallium3D is a hardware- and API- neutral intermediate format that will allow Tungsten Graphics to efficiently build graphics drivers to support a variety of hardware platforms for modern 3D APIs on various OS environments.

This paper provides quantitative data that, in many cases, using open source software / free software (abbreviated as OSS/FS, FLOSS, or FOSS) is a reasonable or even superior approach to using their proprietary competition according to various measures. This paper’s goal is to show that you should consider using OSS/FS when acquiring software. This paper examines market share, reliability, performance, scalability, security, and total cost of ownership. It also has sections on non-quantitative issues, unnecessary fears, OSS/FS on the desktop, usage reports, governments and OSS/FS, other sites providing related information, and ends with some conclusions. An appendix gives more background information about OSS/FS.

In the spirit of free and open source software (F/OSS), we are attempting to establish a community in which information will be freely exchanged, so that we may further the understanding of open source and its implications outside the realm of software development. We invite researchers to post their papers on open source and free software here, and to add themselves to the research directory, so that our community can become steadily larger and more comprehensive.

The International Free and Open Source Software Foundation (iFOSSF) is a 501c3 nonprofit organization incorporated in the United States. Its mission is to accelerate the development and usage of Information and Communication Technologies with Free and Open Source Software worldwide for sustained economic and social development, especially for the socially disadvantaged.

Free and open source software, also F/OSS, FOSS, or FLOSS (for Free/Libre/Open Source Software) is software which is liberally licensed to grant the right of users to study, change, and improve its design through the availability of its source code. This approach has gained both momentum and acceptance as the potential benefits have been increasingly recognized by both individuals and corporate players.[1][2]

This paper documents the first comprehensive empirical research on the geographical distribution and personal background of Libre Software developers. While preceding studies relied on either a single tool or examined only a single project, like the Linux kernel, we include a mulitude of utilities, like the application Codd, which automatically examines source code to determine the author, or an online survey which obtained additional personal information never collected before. In addition to that, we examined a great variety of software projects, by accessing an online repository and including linux distributions with the highest rate of developing activity. As a result, we were able to bring an end to the most prejudices surrounding the personal background of Libre Software developers, as well as to state a very promising rank of European developers on a global scale, who are actually as numerous as their North American colleagues.

O seu principal obxectivo é o de pór a disposición das pequenas e medianas empresas un conxunto catalogado de aplicacións de xestión baseadas en software libre, con información que lles permita tomar decisións sobre a adecuación funcional e a viabilidade técnica e legal da súa utilización (casos de éxito, soporte, principais funcionalidades, tipo de licenza,...).
