Abstract
The maximal values recommended for the electric field intensity and the magnetic flux density in
professional and residential exposure situations have been established by international and national
organizations. ICNIRP, IEEE and the European Community proposed limits starting from the instant
physiologic effect of these fields based on a maximum density of current induced into the human body.
However, the impact of the electromagnetic field is not only instantaneously, but long term
biologically, too, inducing the development of some diseases or the aggravation of some anterior
diseases in the case of exposure to relatively low values of the magnetic flux density, ranked between
0.2 and 1.2 μT, a decrease of the immune capacity of the human body occurring due to the decrease in
melatonin secretion. Some newer researches showed DNA double strand breaking due to 0.4 mT 50
Hz exposure in vitro. Therefore, in some countries the maximum allowed magnetic flux density was
strong decreased below the ICNIRP values (Italy, Israel, the Netherlands, Swiss, Sweden).
The long term biological impact can not be explained by the interaction between the electric and/or
magnetic component of the electromagnetic field and the human cells, tissues, organs or systems. The
Maxwell equations are about 150 years old, but were not totally with vectors, but with quaternions,
too. The scalar parts of the quaternions were discarded by Oliver Heaviside to form the already known
modem EM theory. But these scalar parts produce effects, the effects being done by what may be
named the longitudinal scalar field, as component of the elecrtromagnetic field. Experimentally, the
existence of this component was proven by N. Tesla in 1894. Many scientists from different countries
tried to adapt the Maxwell equations to may include the matters of the scalar field and of the magnetic
monopoles. Here, have to be mentioned the very important papers of Konstantin Meyl, Andre Waser,
K. J. van Vlaenderen, C. Monstein, J. P. Wesley, A. Arbab, G.I.Shipov and many others. The scalar
field, as explained, may be detected and even measured, but not directly. The known detectors are:
Dea/Faretto, IGA - 1, TCM030, SADAF-08LC, SEV A. IGA- 1 was used in our tests also. The scalar
field underlying the EM fields and the electromagnetic and bioelectromagnetic phenomena, such as it
was mentioned by Bohm and Aharonov and some further details obtained by other scientists such as
W. Cook, W. Tiller, K. Meyl, G. Rein et al. brought to the possible mechanism of possible health
chronic effect causation. It seems that the scalar field is going to modify the DNA. A model of such
action is described.
