Das "Kompetenzzentrum geschlechtergerechte Kinder- und Jugendhilfe Sachsen-Anhalt e.V." versteht sich als fachpolitische Servicestelle für Genderkompetenz, Mädchenarbeit sowie Jungenarbeit in Sachsen-Anhalt. Es dient der Vernetzung und Etablierung geschlechtergerechter Ansätze in der Kinder- und Jugendhilfe.
Für die Umstellung der Studiengänge auf Bachelor- und Masterabschlüsse im Zuge der Internationalisierung und Umwandlung nationaler Hochschulsysteme in einen einheitlichen Hochschulraum Europa stellt die Herstellung von Geschlechtergerechtigkeit eine besondere Herausforderung dar.
Das haben auch die europäischen BildungsministerInnen erkannt. Sie beschlossen 2003 in ihrem ‚Berliner Kommuniqué', dass soziale und geschlechtsspezifische Ungleichheit im Zuge des Bologna-Prozesses abzubauen sei. Die Umsetzung dieser Zielsetzung steht noch aus. Sie kann nur gelingen, wenn der Abbau sozialer und geschlechtsspezifischer Ungleichheit auf internationaler und nationaler Ebene und auch von den Bundesländern und Hochschulen als zentrale Aufgabe gesehen und der Bologna-Prozess im Sinne des Gender-Mainstreaming-Konzeptes durchgeführt wird.
Sie ist beteiligt an einer Reihe von Forschungsprojekten, Interventionen und politischen Initiativen, die effektive Wege suchen, wie Männer und Jungen dafür gewonnen und engagiert werden können, Ungleichheiten zwischen den Geschlechtern zu reduzieren sowie Gesundheit und Wohlergehen von Frauen, Männern, Mädchen und Jungen zu befördern.
