The government believes that transparency and reporting can support the cultural change required to build a more inclusive society.
The voluntary reporting framework has been developed by the government in partnership with leading businesses and third sector organisations to support employers to voluntarily report information on disability, mental health and wellbeing in the workplace.
It is aimed at organisations with over 250 employees, but can be used by employers of any size.
The aim here is to distinguish the unique characteristics of these groups and thereby try and articulate a new understanding of health and health equity with identity and difference in the foreground. We aim to bring attention to experience as a crucial parameter to discuss health equity in this context. Open Access Article

Stigma and Health2.3 (Aug 2017): 229-243.
Prior research describes significantly worse health outcomes experienced by lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people relative to their heterosexual and cisgender counterparts. A prevalent research focus on urban LGBT populations has created a gap in understanding rural LGBT health care and outcomes from a holistic perspective. The present article provides a literature review focusing on the health and health care experiences of LGBT people living in rural areas and highlighting challenges and opportunities for growth in providing culturally competent rural health care. Three years ago a member of our family disclosed that they were transgender. The umbrella term transgender refers to ‘a significant minority of people whose gender expression or identity differs from societal expectations of their assigned sex at birth’ (Bailey et al. 2014). We had not faced anything like this before and we quickly learnt that transgender issues provoke strong opinions and emotions. Login using your SSSFT NHS OpenAthens for full text.
