Die Frankfurter elektronische Rundschau zur Altertumskunde (FeRA) ist ein open access online-journal für alle klassischen altertumskundlichen Fächer mit drei Ausgaben pro Jahr (April, August und Dezember). Obwohl am Frankfurter Institut für Archäologische Wissenschaften begründet und über den Server der Johann Wolfgang Goethe-Universität operierend, versteht sich die Zeitschrift nicht als reine Seminarpublikation, sondern lädt ausdrücklich Nachwuchswissenschafter aller Universitäten ein, Fachbeiträge und Rezensionen einzureichen.
In Deutschland werden Texte durch das Urheberrecht geschützt. Doch Wissenschaftsmagazine setzen zunehmend auf die freie Verbreitung im Internet. Verlage und Autoren fühlen sich bedroht - Open Access hat viele Kritiker. Jetzt will die Union wissenschaftliche Urheber besser absichern.

Die Union möchte mit einem Zweitveröffentlichungsrecht Open Acess vorantreiben und gleichzeitig die Rechte der Autoren stärken. Eine verfehlte Strategie, die zu Lasten der kleinen und mittleren Verlage ginge und damit auch vielen Autor schaden würde, meint Roland Reuß.
