Le Courrier d'Avignon paraît de 1733 à 1793 avec une interruption, entre février 1769 et août 1775, où il est publié à Monaco (annexion d'Avignon à la France de 1768 à 1774). Bihebdomadaire depuis 1733, il devient trihebdomadaire en juillet 1789 puis il paraît 6 fois par semaine en janvier 1790.
La Gazette de Leyde, parue essentiellement sous le titre Nouvelles extraordinaires de divers endroits (1679—1795/98), est l'une des plus intéressantes par sa longévité (1677-1811), sa continuité, son tirage (7000 exemplaires en 1785, sans compter les contrefaçons, d'après J. Popkin), sa qualité, et son indépendance par rapport à la France, ce qui la distingue de la Gazette d'Amsterdam.
