Nach Einschätzung europäischer Rechtswissenschaftler widerspricht das Anti-Piraterieabkommen ACTA in mehreren Punkten dem EU-Recht. In einer gemeinsamen Erklärung fordern Sie EU-Parlamentarier dazu auf, das umstrittene Abkommen abzulehnen. Die FUTUREZONE hat mit Axel Metzger, einem der Koordinatoren der Erklärung, über ACTA und die Folgen für die europäische Urheberrechtsgesetzgebung gesprochen.
Im Kampf gegen Filesharer und Piraten sieht die Europäische Kommission “dringenden Handlungsbedarf”. Denn heutzutage biete das Internet eine “beispiellose Zunahme der Möglichkeiten, Rechte des geistigen Eigentums zu verletzen”.
So steht es in einem Bericht (pdf) über die Durchsetzung der Rechte des geistigen Eigentums der EU-Kommission, zu dem Organisationen, Bürger und “alle interessierten Akteure” bis Ende letzten Monats Stellung nehmen konnten. Aus Brüssel können wir in den kommenden Monaten – neben der Unterzeichnung des Anti-Piraterie-Abkommens ACTA – ein Gesamtpaket zum geistigen Eigentum erwarten. Die Vorschläge der Kommission werden für den 5. Mai erwartet.
Das Acta-Abkommen betrifft Käsesorten ebenso wie die Frage, was man im Netz darf. Der Bürgerrechtler Jérémie Zimmermann kritisiert die Ergebnisse der Geheimniskrämerei der Unterhändler.
Abgeordnete aller Fraktionen haben die EU-Kommission aufgefordert, in einem Rechtsgutachten eindeutig darzulegen, dass in der EU und ihren Mitgliedsländern keine Gesetzesanpassung notwendig wird.
