FCC-Chef Julius Genachowski hat in einer Rede die Prinzipien der Netzneutralität vorgestellt, die er demnächst als feste Regeln in der US-Netzwerkbranche verankern möchte. Diese Regeln sollen auch für Mobilfunker gelten. Freiheit und Offenheit sollen freilich nur für legale Dienste und Inhalte gelten, stellte der oberste US-Regulator klar.
Die Regierung der USA will sich offenbar zur Schutzmacht eines neutralen Internets erklären und dafür in den schwelenden Konflikt zwischen Inhalte-Anbietern und Telekom-Unternehmen über die Kosten für die Übertragung großer Datenmengen eingreifen. Wie das "Wall Street Journal" berichtet, will heute Julius Genachowski, Chef der Federal Communications Commission (FCC), ein Gesetz ankündigen, das Internet-Provider zur Gleichbehandlung aller Daten zwingt. Damit würde zum Beispiel das Drosseln der Bandbreite bei kabellosen Übertragungen illegal.

Ohrfeige für Frankreichs Regierungspartei UMP: Die Nationalversammlung hat mit den Stimmen der Opposition das Internet-Sperrgesetz Loi HADOPI abgelehnt, das kurz vorher noch vom Senat verschärft worden war. Letzteres wollten auch einige Abgeordnete der Regierungspartei nicht mehr mittragen. Die rechtskonservative Regierung will nun nach Ostern einen neuen Anlauf versuchen.
