Abstract
A lot of calculation and measurement results of power frequency magnetic field generated power
equipment have been reported so far. However, there seem little papers concerning measurement
results of magnetic field around power distribution equipment installed on sidewalk in urban areas.
Evaluation of magnetic field generated by such equipment is considered to be important from the
standpoint of public exposure, because people passed by them closely in some cases.
This paper reports the results of magnetic field measurements around pad-mounted transformers,
switchgears and vertical cables of power distribution systems in accordance with IEC 62110
established in 2009, which prescribes measurement and evaluation procedures of magnetic field
generated by ac power systems with regard to human exposure. Evaluation results are also discussed
by comparing the average and the maximum exposure levels with reference levels from the ICNIRP
Guidelines.
It was proved that the average and the maximum exposure levels obtained here are much smaller
than the reference levels from the ICNIRP Guidelines.
