L’épidémiologie des addictions a très tôt mis en en évidence une prédominance
masculine quasi exclusive parmi les consommateurs d’alcool, de tabac et d’autres
drogues. Les mêmes études ont également démontré des spécificités de genre .... Ces particularités suggèrent le besoin de réponses originales
à l’égard de chaque sexe, en prévention comme en soins .... Néanmoins, la diffusion et la nature des
approches « au féminin » demeurent, en France, insuffisamment connues.
Use of SFL to map the role of language (form and function) in learning History in Australian Secondary schools. Consciousness raising- both staff and students. Included ethnographic interviews to identify approx. 100 successful texts for analysis. Genre -purpose -staging. Teaching -learning cycle (deconstruction - work on genre- grammar-lexis - students' writing improved - particularly text structure and organisation.
Linguistic analysis can be used to describe texts students could produce: teachers and students should have acces to successful texts to determine how texts are linguistically shaped and structured and how grammar and lexis is drawn upon: the genre. In genre beginning and stages can be identified on basis of shifts in lexical and grammatical patterning. As student move through school the type of texts they should produce becomes increasingly generalized and abstract, more interpretation and evaluation. This is done through nominalization, movein from chronological sequencing to embedding events as part of an argument and in using more evaluative lexis.
Genres are not what they used to be. They are both more and less. More in the sense that today many genres of interest are increasingly multimodal, making their meanings through the co- deployment of resources from both language and other semiotic systems. Less in the sense that as people cross institutional and genre boundaries on shorter and shorter timescales (surfing across television channels from genre to genre, across websites from institution to institution, and living their lives between as well as within multiple jobs, tasks, and institutions), we in- creasingly not only hybridize formerly insulated genres, but we now also make meaning along our traversals across traditional genres. Genres are becoming units, raw material, for flexible trans-generic constructions: resources for meaning in a new, externally-oriented sense. Looking at genre from these contemporary viewpoints provides insights into the phenomenon of genre from new functional perspectives,
Exploring the way genre based approaches have changed the pedagogy used to teach language. Focus on how important the concept of genre is and then using genre as a way of building knowledge in specific disciplines. Following on from this conclusion is the assertation that more action research programmes are needed to look at ways teachers can move literacy teaching to more interactive styles.
