We are all the descendants of people who for hundreds of millennia spent their days doing primarily one thing— assuring their food needs were met. Because they were successful, we are here reading this. Yet, to this day, dietary issues ranging from nutritional deficiencies to overeating remain a contributor to global morbidity and mortality. Trials done to establish a healthy diet are mainly observational, use food diaries, and have led to some erroneous recommendations that assume that the same diet is right for all people. But new tools and findings have changed the landscape for nutritional science and underscored the need to better individualise nutritional guidance.

We don't know for sure from this study why young people are increasingly turning away from drinking alcohol. However, the figures suggest a robust trend, which may or may not continue in future.
The decline in drinking could be due to increasing health awareness among young people and people making healthier lifestyle choices. From a public health point of view, this is probably good news, not least because the numbers of young people engaging in harmful binge drinking is also in decline.

Blog post. Despite the prevalence of workplace wellness efforts, only one-third of American workers say they regularly participate in the health promotion programs provided by their employer, according to a new survey by the American Psychological Association.
Additionally, less than half of working Americans (44 percent*) say the climate in their organization supports employee well-being, and 1 in 3 reports being chronically stressed on the job. The APA survey suggests a key part of the solution is senior leadership support.
Nearly three-fourths (73 percent) of employees with senior managers who show support through involvement and commitment to well-being initiatives said their organization helps employees develop a healthy lifestyle, compared with just 11 percent who work in an organization without that leadership support, according to APA's 2016 Work and Well-Being Survey (PDF, 726KB). It was conducted online by Harris Poll among more than 1,500 U.S. adults in March.

College students experience numerous positive and negative consequences from drinking alcohol, although the extent to which these consequences influence perceptions of their drinking experiences is poorly understood. A better understanding of the impact of experiencing specific consequences, and how they are evaluated, on college students’ perceptions of the overall drinking experience and subsequent alcohol use is crucial for advancing intervention efforts. The current study used daily data to examine (a) whether experiencing specific consequences and (b) whether ratings of the most favorable and most aversive consequences predicted overall evaluations of the drinking experience and perceptions that drinking was worth it; and (c) whether overall evaluations and perceptions that drinking was worth it predicted next-day drinking.
