Mit neuen Regeln für den Vertrieb von digitalen Zeitungsabonnements hat Apple belgische und niederländische Verleger verärgert. Laut Medienberichten dürfen Zeitungsabos ab April ausschließlich über den App Store verkauft werden.
Bisher können die Verleger zahlenden Kunden der Printausgabe die iPad-Version über eine kostenlose App gratis zur Verfügung stellen, das soll dann nicht mehr möglich sein. Apple will nun auch hier mit 30 Prozent beteiligt werden.
Apple versucht laut US-Medienberichten, amerikanische Verleger für einen digitalen Zeitungsstand zu gewinnen. Dort sollen Abonnements für Zeitungen und Magazine vor allem für den Tablet-Computer iPad angeboten werden, wie das "Wall Street Journal" am Dienstag berichtete. Ein Problem sei aber, dass Apple die Kontrolle über Kundendaten wie Namen, Adressen, Kreditkartennummern und andere Informationen behalten wolle, hieß es unter Berufung auf informierte Personen.
