Seit den 80er-Jahren werden mit dem so genannten "Rapid Prototyping" einfache Prototypen für die Industrieproduktion hergestellt. Dabei werden Objekte so aufgebaut, dass ein computergesteuerter Laserstrahl anhand der 3D-Objektdaten Kunstharze oder Stahlpulver Schicht für Schicht erhärtet. Das Objekt wächst gewissermaßen in der Maschine heran. Inzwischen ist die RP-Technik so weit fortgeschritten, dass man bereits Endprodukte damit fertigen kann – die Rede ist inzwischen immer häufiger vom "Rapid Manufacturing". Der Weltmarkt für Maschinen und Dienstleistungen ist mit einem Volumen von 1,1 Millarden Dollar allerdings immer noch bescheiden.
Indiens Premierminister Manmohan Singh hat zur Eröffnung der größten indischen Wissenschaftlerkonferenz am 3. Januar einen "Quantensprung" in der Bildungs- und Wissenschaftsförderung angekündigt. Man könne nicht mehr länger warten, es müsse dringend gehandelt werden. Bildung habe die oberste Priorität für die Regierung, wichtig sei die Entwicklung neuer Technologien vor allem auch für den Umwelt- und Klimaschutz, da man nicht die Fehler der alten Industrieländer wiederholen dürfe.
Um Wissenschaft und Technik zu fördern ist die "Gründung von 20 neuen Zentraluniversitäten, von fünf neuen Forschungsinstituten, acht neuen technischen Instituten und 20 neuen Instituten für Informationstechnologien" geplant. In den nächsten fünf Jahren sollen 1.600 polytechnische und 10.000 Berufsschulen sowie 50.000 Zentrum zur beruflichen Weiterbildung eröffnet werden. Eine Million Schüler sollen als Innovationsstipendien 5.000 Rupien erhalten, während 10.000 Studenten 100.000 Rupien pro Jahre bekommen sollen, die sich für ein wissenschaftliches Fach einschreiben. In wichtigen Bereichen wie der Atom- und Weltraumwissenschaft sind Bildungsprogramme geplant, um "Talente am Ende des Schulbesuchs zu erreichen". Überdies benötige man eine "Armee an Lehrern", besonders für die Lehre der Grundwissenschaften und der Mathematik.
Die Ausgaben für Bildung sollen, so der Premierminister verfünffacht werden. Bislang gibt Indien nur ein Prozent des BIP für die Bildung aus. Singh versprach, die Ausgaben schnell auf 2 Prozent erhöhen. (fr/Telepolis)
Nun hat die Anwältin des Soziologen nach einem Bericht der tageszeitung Einsicht in die Ermittlungsunterlagen nehmen können. Dabei stellte sich heraus, dass BKA-Beamte mit einer Google-Suche nach den Begriffen "Gentrification" und "Prekarisierung" auf den Stadtsoziologen aufmerksam wurden. Die Tatsache, dass der Soziologe zu den Begriffen forschte, die für die Aufwertung oder Abwertung von Stadtvierteln benutzt werden, genügte offenbar den BKA-Beamten, um eine Verbindung zur "militanten Gruppe" herzustellen. "Das reichte für die Ermittlungsbehörden für eine fast einjährige Observation, für Videoüberwachung der Hauseingänge und Lauschangriff", erklärte die Anwältin Christina Clemm der Zeitung.
Mit Demonstrationen wie der gegen die Vorratsdatenspeicherung und Überwachung könne das Ohnmachtsgefühl bekämpft werden. Der Weg über Eigen- und Bürgerinitiativen ist auch ein Abschied von der klassischen Politik: nur zwei Anwesende des gut besuchten Vortrages waren Mitglieder politischer Parteien.
