Obwohl eine Beteiligung der Mitarbeiter dabei helfen kann, auch schwere Krisen zu überstehen, wird dieses Instrument von den wenigsten Unternehmen genutzt. Warum eigentlich?
Das Putzige an der diesjährigen Nobelpreisentscheidung ist nun, dass die Jury diese zeitliche Sukzession gewissermaßen in den Moment, ins Gegenwärtige verdichtet: Sie hat im Trio der Laureaten zwei Ökonomen ausgezeichnet, die bewiesen haben, dass das Gegenteil von dem richtig ist, was der ebenfalls ausgezeichnete Kollege bewiesen hat.
Von Irland bis Spanien, von Großbritannien bis Zypern: Die Banken nehmen mit ihren Problemen ganz Europa in Geiselhaft. Die Steuerzahler blechen dafür – mit 1600.000.000.000 Euro. Die Politik muss sich von dieser modernen Pest befreien.
Die Euro-Krise hat wichtige, für die EU existenzielle Fragen aufgeworfen. Sie betreffen nicht nur die Finanzierung von überschuldeten Staaten beziehungsweise das Verhältnis zwischen Politik und Finanzmärkten, sondern auch die demokratische Verfasstheit der europäischen Institutionen.
Die entfesselte Maschine: Es gibt keine Möglichkeit, das Computersystem der Finanzmärkte zu beherrschen. Den Wirtschaftswissenschaftlern brechen die Fundamente ihrer Theorien weg.
Im Verlauf der Eurokrise haben zahlreiche Banken gigantische Summen verloren. So sehen sich Staaten wie Griechenland, Spanien und Irland gezwungen, ihre Geldinstitute mit Milliardenbeträgen zu stützen. Aber wohin fließt das Geld wirklich? Wem schulden die maroden Banken das Geld? Diese scheinbar simplen Fragen versucht der Wirtschaftsjournalist und Sachbuchautor Harald Schumann zu beantworten.
Seit einiger Zeit kommt es knüppeldick: Immer häufiger werden Aktivitäten ruchbar, bei denen sich der normale Durchschnittsbürger fragt, was denn eigentlich wirklich los ist in den Chefetagen der Finanzindustrie.
Es war ein überaus wichtiger Sieg, den der Staat Island an diesem Montag vor dem EFTA-Gerichtshof erzielt hat. Grob verkürzt bedeutet das Urteil, dass Island bei seinem Weg, die Bevölkerung, und nicht die Banken, zu retten, nicht nur alles richtig gemacht hat, sondern dass der „isländische Weg“ auch mit EU-Recht konform geht. Von den deutschen Medien wurde das Urteil weitestgehend ignoriert, nur der Süddeutschen war dieses wichtige Ereignis eine Randnotiz wert.
Die Finanzkrise stellt alte Dogmen der Volkswirtschaftslehre in Frage. Der Glaube an die Selbstheilungskräfte der Märkte ist verflogen. Das Fach von Adam Smith steht vor seiner größten Herausforderung seit Jahrzehnten.

Mein Urerlebnis mit Top-Managern der Finanzindustrie hatte ich 2002. Damals war ich Wahlkampfmanager von Edmund Stoiber. Roland Berger hatte für Stoiber im Hotel “Vier Jahreszeiten” in München ein intimes Treffen mit den Vorstandschefs der größten deutschen Unternehmen arrangiert.
In der aktuellen Diskussion über die sog. Euro-Krise ist auffällig, dass mittlerweile selbst Vorstandsvorsitzende von DAX-Unternehmen der Finanzbranche sagen, Banken müssten auch mal pleite gehen können. Nur in der Politik sagt das (fast) niemand. Wozu führt es eigentlich, wenn die europäischen Staaten immer wieder mit enormem Einsatz von Steuergeldern Banken retten, wie jetzt aktuell im Falle Spaniens?
Mit Sparauflagen, Rettungsschirmen und Reformen kämpft die Politik gegen die Euro-Krise. Dennoch wird das Desaster noch ein paar Jahre weitergehen, prophezeit Wirtschaftsprofessor Max Otte. Sein Argument: Es gibt viele, die an dieser Krise verdienen.

Gezielte Spekulationsattacken auf ganze Volkswirtschaften, unantastbare Finanzagenturen, die Regierungen in die Knie zwingen, und ohnmächtige Politiker, die gebetsmühlenartig wiederholen, es gäbe keine Alternative: Europa befindet sich im Wirtschaftskrieg.

Seit Beginn der Finanz- und Verschuldungskrise in der Europäischen Union werden demokratisch gewählte Parlamente und Regierungen von den privaten Akteuren der Kapitalmärkte in die Enge getrieben. Der "Fiskalpakt“ verpflichtet langfristig zu strikter Haushaltsdisziplin durch "Schuldenbremsen“. Unterdessen wächst das Unbehagen über demokratische Defizite beim parlamentarischen Umgang mit scheinbar alternativlosen, immer größeren „Rettungspaketen“.
Europaweit besteht gegenwärtig die einmütige Reaktion der Politik auf die Krise in Austerität und Haushaltsdisziplin. Die Kürzung von Löhnen und Sozialleistungen, die Angriffe auf das Tarifverhandlungssystem und die Stärkung ultra-flexibler Beschäftigungsverhältnisse untermauern das vorherrschende Paradigma. Der Berlin-Brüssel-Konsens präsentiert sich als der einzige Weg in die Zukunft.
Wie viel Demokratie darf es noch sein in diesen Zeiten? Der Boykott François Hollandes durch gleich vier europäische Regierungschefs lässt erkennen, wie schlecht es um Europa steht. (Von Nils Minkmar)
