Neelie Kroes, die Hüterin der Digitalen Agenda in Brüssel, erklärte auf der re:publica das umstrittene Anti-Piraterie-Abkommen für mehr oder weniger als erledigt. Eine Copyright-Reform an sich sei aber dringend erforderlich.
"Unsere Verantwortung als Politiker ist, Tatsachen zu schaffen und nicht der Masse folgen" sagte EU-Kommissar Karel de Gucht zu den Protesten. Weitere, geheimgehaltene ACTA-Dokumente sind aufgetaucht.
Die Europäische Kommission führt die Proteste gegen ACTA auf unzureichende Informationen zurück und ist optimistisch, das Abkommen durchzusetzen. Zusätzliches Informationsmaterial soll für mehr Akzeptanz sorgen.
Handelskomissar Karel de Gucht und Michel Barnier (Binnenmarkt) treiben das umstrittene Abkommen voran. Die für "geistiges Eigentum" zuständige Juristin der Kommission war bis 2004 Top-Lobbyistin der Musikindustrie.
Vertreter der EU und von 22 Mitgliedsstaaten haben das umstrittene Abkommen ACTA unterzeichnet. Nun müssen die nationalen Parlamente und das Europäische Parlament darüber beraten.
Die Verhandlungsparteien des umstrittenen Anti-Produktpiraterie-Abkommens ACTA haben nach rund drei Jahren einen konsolidierten Text veröffentlicht, der den Stand der Verhandlungen nach der elften Runde der Gespräche in Tokio wiedergibt. Damit steht der Öffentlichkeit erstmals seit April 2010 eine belastbare Diskussionsgrundlage zur Verfügung.
