Randall Stephenson, CEO der Telefongesellschaft AT&T, denkt bereits an das allmähliche Ende der herkömmlichen Mobilfunktarife. Innerhalb der nächsten zwei Jahre dürften erste Anbieter reine Datentarife auf den Markt bringen.
Mobiles Breitband boomt. In Österreich wurden 2009 bereits 1,29 Millionen mobile Breitbandanschlüsse verzeichnet, das sind bereits 40 Prozent aller Internetzugänge. Und mit dem Smartphone-Trend werden es täglich mehr, die derzeit per UMTS und HSPA im Netz surfen. Nun steht die vierte Mobilfunkgeneration LTE in den Startlöchern, und die Betreiber rüsten ihre Netze auf.
