Examining humanistic skills training within healthcare education, Nick believed that by filming carefully constructed scenarios and watching them using immersive viewing, ie virtual reality goggles, learners can be transported into the shoes of the patient in a way not previously achievable.

Allowing mobile learning the iBook offers staff the flexibility of learning within or away from their work environment.
Theory can now be undertaken prior to attending a practical face to face session away from the clinical area, releasing time to care. May be used as a refresher by all staff and can be accessed at the patient bedside. Elwin has noted that since using the iBook for teaching purposes there has been an increase in staff engagement as everyone within a session can get involved due to the interactive nature of the iBook.
Health Education England’s Technology Enhanced Learning Programme (TEL) is working on the Department of Health mandate to find digital solutions to some of the challenges presented in accessing, creating and sharing online teaching and learning resources.
The TEL team is conducting a short survey looking at the current use, attitudes and views toward online learning resources. The findings from this research will go towards improving access to learning resources, greater collaboration and sharing of information, and the avoidance of costly duplication.
General practitioners (GP) update their knowledge and skills by participating in continuing medical education (CME) programs either in a traditional or an e-Learning format. GPs’ beliefs about electronic format of CME have been studied but without an explicit theoretical framework which makes the findings difficult to interpret. We are pleased to announce our new suite of Statutory and Mandatory Elearning specifically designed for and by the primary care sector. Delivered in partnership with the National Skills Academy for Health, the courses are the most up to date and sector specific Elearning available, and include the latest guidance which reflects all current government and expert guidelines.
This study sought to determine whether a flipped classroom that facilitated peer learning would improve undergraduate health sciences students' abilities to find, evaluate, and use appropriate evidence for research assignments. Students completed online modules in a learning management system, with librarians facilitating subsequent student-directed, in-person sessions. Mixed methods assessment was used to evaluate program outcomes. Students learned information literacy concepts but did not consistently apply them in research assignments. Faculty interviews revealed strengthened partnerships between librarians and teaching faculty. Technology-Enhanced Learning (TEL) can be used to educate Foundation Programme trainee (F1 and F2) doctors. Despite the advantages of TEL, learning behaviours may be exhibited that are not desired by system developers or educators. The aim of this evaluation was to investigate how learner behaviours (e.g. time spent on task) were affected by temporal (e.g. time of year), module (e.g. word count), and individual (e.g. knowledge) factors for 16 mandatory TEL modules related to prescribing and therapeutics.
The article focuses on the use of multimedia content by various companies to suit their training needs for employees. Topics discussed include combining ready-made with custom-content at staffing and recruiting services firm LaSalle Network to develop the material for learning courses, customization of the content at communications and technology solutions company Verizon, and content associated with learners needs at Johns Hopkins Community Physicians (JHCP).
